OUR STORY

River City's association with Harley-Davidson began in February 1977 when its dealer principal, a Chevy pickup truck, and a 36' fifth-wheel cargo trailer headed for America's motorcycling headquarters, the Harley-Davidson plant on Juneau Avenue in Milwaukee.

The purpose of this icy trip was new dealer orientation with Harley factory personnel and to haul back the initial shipment of Harley® products to the dealership. After introductions and several hours of meetings, the trailer was positioned near the loading docks. Soon new 1977 1000cc Sportster® and 74 cubic inch Super Glide® and Electra Glide® models began coming down a freight elevator and out the overhead door of the Juneau Avenue factory for loading onto the trailer. Several 125cc and 250cc Italian-built Harley® motorcycles followed.
The last items to be loaded were spare parts, gleaming chrome accessories, and a selection of riding gear, all carefully packed on large wooden pallets. Everything was carefully secured to the trailer for a safe journey back to Indiana. Then it was time to shake hands with our new Harley friends and head back to the dealership. As we proceeded down the Interstate, truckers would honk and give the thumbs up sign. How proud we were to be a new Harley-Davidson dealer.

Our original location near Decatur, Indiana quickly became the premier Harley-Davidson dealership in the marketplace. Our customers told us that one of the reasons for our instant success was that we always have a great selection of new and pre-owned Harley-Davidson® motorcycles in stock. Another was our commitment to stocking heavy and deep in genuine Harley-Davidson® parts and accessories long before the advent of the "designer store." But probably the most important ingredient in our success was our staff of courteous, knowledgeable and dedicated Harley professionals. All of these ingredients, as well as many new innovations in customer service, are at work in our dealership today. Maybe that's why customers continue to regard us as the "premier dealer" in the marketplace.
On December 27, 1997, River City Harley-Davidson broke ground for construction of a new 14,600 square foot building. After a long winter and what seemed to be and even longer Spring, River City opened it's doors on June 2, 1998. Our new facility gave us the ability to create more attractive displays and stock more product for our ever-growing base of motorcycling enthusiasts. Our investment in the new facility and our staff's dedication to making customers feel like "part of our family" are paying off. The most recent One-Month-of-Ownership Customer Satisfaction Survey shows River City Harley-Davidison outperforming national, regional, and district Harley dealer scores in almost every category of customer service. We frequently hear first-time customers and veterans alike, comment on our tremendous selection of Harley® products and, most of all, our beautiful and enticing displays. And just like in past times, what we hear customers rave about the most is the excellence of our dedicated staff!
Perhaps the greeting at the front door says it all: "Welcome To Our Family." We strive to always create a family atmosphere, both with first-time customers as well as our many "regulars." We invite you to experience our customer service first hand. Call, write, or visit our dealership soon. We'll leave the lights on and the coffee hot!
